With more accessibility to cameras than ever before, what differentiates Fine Art Photography from iPhone photography?  With years of training and professional storytelling experience, there are many reasons to invest in a Fine Art Photographer. Keep reading to learn why I made fine art photos my specialty.

What Makes Fine Art Photography Different?

An Emphasis on Storytelling

Fine Art Photography is an art form that requires years of training, practicing, and specializing.  With a heavy emphasis on storytelling, Fine Art Photographers need to art direct in a way that not only works on a technical level for presentation, but on an emotional one for the viewers as well.  These intricate harmonies of technique blend to create art.  Art that is meant to be hung, meant to be seen, and meant to be appreciated.

I don’t just capture perfectly posed and staged photos, I capture your love story. The way he looks at you when he thinks no one is watching. The happy tear you mother wipes away when she sees you in your wedding dress for the first time. The joke you and your new spouse share in-between endless guests waiting in line to congratulate you. These tiny moments are what will invoke the feeling of your most special days even years from now.

Timeless Over Trendy

With a day as important as your wedding day, a Fine Art Photographer can keep your photos looking timeless and sophisticated without the time constraints of short lived trends.  Fine Art Photography is meant to be utilized as an heirloom and to be treasured for generations to come.  These photos aren’t meant to be stored away in a dusty storage bin, they’re meant to be admired by others and to share the stories they showcase.

Instead of overly filtered presets, I use bright and simple edits that showcase the true you, so that your photos never end up looking like everyone else’s. And I love choosing minimal but well-lit locations so that all of the focus is on your relationship, and we never have to worry about navigating overcrowded hot spots.

Capturing the Traditional and the Unexpected

Fine Art isn’t just for the artist to convey a message, but for the viewer to appreciate and participate in the emotional storytelling of the message.  Fine Art Photography can do this especially well by capturing moments that invoke memories of emotions.  I treasure familial bonds, cultural, and religious experiences and believe all deserve to be photographed in the most respectful and memorable of ways. You can see these traditions captured in my past shoots such as Mika and Caleb’s traditional Korean tea ceremony here.

I believe in the importance of capturing the small and big moments of your life in a way that can be shared with others for years to come. Whether it’s an engagement, traditional wedding, or maternity, I will put your story first and capture it in an elevated and breathtaking way.
