Wedding Kimono Photos With Soko and Kenta
Recently I wrote about what makes fine art photography different here, and I kept coming back to the importance of capturing the cultural experiences important to you. These traditions tell the story of your family for generations, and photographing them in a current and unique way tells your personal love story while paying homage your ancient culture.
This shoot is a perfect example, and I loved watching Soko and Kenta’s parents help during this shoot. As they carefully arranged the detailed kimonos from Miyabi, and lovingly watched their now grown children take part in traditions they experienced at that age too.
I treasure familial bonds, cultural, and religious experiences and believe all deserve to be photographed in the most respectful and memorable of ways. And capturing these sorts of shoots has become a specialty of mine over the years, as you can see throughout my past work and on Instagram.
My own Japanese heritage has greatly influenced who I am and how I view the world. I’ve seen firsthand the power of photography in understanding my own personal identity and family history.

In addition to shooting at the studio, we changed locations during this session to give Soko and Kenta even more options to choose from! As you can read about here, I love the flexibility to take photos at multiple locations during pre-wedding photoshoot. If you aren’t sure how many/what kinds of wedding photoshoots to plan, you can contact me here.
