Timeless Before Trendy:  Why to Choose Timeless Wedding Photography

Have you seen your parent’s wedding photos? I’m sure the experience is a mix of “I can’t believe you were that young!” and “what were you wearing???” To an extent this is unavoidable, every decade has its own brand of wedding trends. Some timeless, some, eh not so much.

As you start to plan your wedding, you most likely feel bombarded with wedding trends in every magazine and online, not to mention from input from family members. It can be easy to lose your personal style to keep up with what is “in” at the moment. As years pass, you want to look back on your wedding and feel all the special emotions from your big day minus the *embarrassment* of trends you wouldn’t choose again.

Timeless Wedding Photography Emphasizes Emotions

With a lot of investment poured into your wedding day and the days leading up to, who you choose to capture these moments will set the story that is told for years to come. Your wedding day should capture you and your spouse's personalities. Choosing timeless photography emphasizes emotions over trends.

As a Fine Art Photographer, I’ve spent 5 years fostering my photography skills through formal education and professional experience to help my clients feel and look elevated beyond belief. This allows me to comfortably capture candid moments that no trend can compare to. To learn more about my wedding photography services, click here!

Emotional content goes beyond trends. Trends can be loud or get in the way of focusing on what really matters. Showcasing relationships between friends and family are memories worth sharing.

Timeless Wedding Photography Means Clean Edits

To me, timeless photography means clean editing - no overly warm toned filters, no greens turned dusty brown. There is a time for these presets and they can be beautiful, but I believe wedding photos should be as true to the actual day as possible. Enhancing natural colors and beauty so that when you flip through your wedding photos they are exactly as you remember seeing it with your own eyes.

This photography style can also be categorized as “fine art photography” which I specialize in. And many of the principles of this style are what make my wedding photography focused on being timeless over trendy. To learn more about what fine art means, click here.

Timeless Wedding Photography Will Change Your Reaction 20 Years From Now

Some wedding trends come back around, like puffy-sleeved gowns and bouquets of monochrome roses. In fact, you can read here about 2021 wedding trends I think will stand the test of time. But photo editing trends are more likely to only have their brief moment before being left getting virtually dusty in the Instagram archives forever. I am not saying not to embrace trends you absolutely love! I’m saying that consciously considering what current wedding trends actually align with your personality will make your day feel so much more special. And then capturing those wedding plans in a thoughtful and lasting way will leave you saying “That was so us” over “I would never pick that now.”
