Emmy & Cody's England-Inspired Park City Wedding Day

Starting with the fabric of the bridesmaids’ dresses — Emmy was raised for part of her childhood in England. Much of her wedding inspiration came from British fabric company, Liberty Prints. The bridesmaids dresses and mothers dresses are made from Liberty fabrics. And later in this post you will see the centerpieces at their wedding dinner, each of which were inspired by a different Liberty print!
After the Ceremony
As another nod to her childhood in England, Emmy choose a classic British style bouquet made of lily of the valley blooms. The simplicity of these flowers allowed focus to fall on the stunning embroidered details of her wedding gown. She said the moment she put on this dress she knew it was the one. Cody was also riding in style in his father’s vintage car, which made for the perfect getaway throughout the day.
A Trip to the Theater
In-between their ceremony and reception, Cody and Emmy rented out a movie theater and had their guests watch Mama Mia! A full wedding day spent wearing heels, hugging guests, and smiling for photos is exhausting, so taking any opportunity to enjoy an activity you love or just hang with your closest loved ones can make your big day feel a lot more comfortable. This unique idea was such a fun way to break up their wedding day and gave Cody and Emmy the second wind they needed before heading to their dinner and reception.
The Reception
The most important way Cody and Emmy made sure their wedding day was 100% the day of their dreams was by scaling back their guest list and changed the order of events. They opted to host an open house for the longer, more traditional guest list the night before their ceremony. Then the day of their wedding they held a very intimate dinner party which is photographed here. This choice, though breaking the mold, allowed them to share the most important day with the people that know them best.
The photo below was inspired by Emmy's favorite movie, The Parent Trap! I loved it when Emmy requested this special shot. If you want any shots outside of the standard ones, preparing a shot list for your photographer in advance will help ensure you have extra special keepsakes like this one.
