How to Make Sure Your Engagement Shoot Outfits Match Your Personality
Below you will find outfit ideas for different kinds of couples! Which matches you and your special someone best?
It is also important to remember that your engagement photos will be on display all around your wedding reception. If this is the case, take into account the overall feel of your reception when planning your engagement photoshoot and location. For example, if your reception is a black tie event, having more formal engagement photos on display can compliment that look, whereas photos chilling on your couch may feel out of place.
Engagement Shoot Outfits For the Classy Couple
Maddie and Dima’s outfit choices matched perfectly with the location of their engagement shoot. Though not every couple feels comfortable in a suit and heels, they look right at home! The hot pink of Maddie’s dress was a perfect choice, it adds interest to her simple but elegant dress. And it is so flattering on her!
I love capturing multiple facets of a couple’s personality by changing locations partway through their engagement shoot! After shooting at the Utah State Capitol building, Maddie and Dima switched into more casual outfits and we finished their shoot at a studio. This switch allowed them to capture multiple important parts of their relationship. A power couple who can go from looking like the next tenants of the White House to looking like the fun couple-next-door? That’s Maddie and Dima.

Engagement Shoot Outfits For the Cozy Couple
We shot most of Cody and Emmy’s photos at a bright natural light studio in Draper Utah, instead of their own home, so they cozied up the photos by wearing some of their favorite outfits! Though Emmy chose a dress while Cody wore sneakers, these outfits are true to them. The outcome was photos that look like their everyday! Almost like I caught them snuggling on the couch watching their favorite TV show, or dancing around their own kitchen. These are the kinds of photos that tell a story about their relationship, and are my favorite kinds to capture!

Engagement Shoot Outfits For the Artistic Couple
Mixing patterns is the best way to show your artistic side in your engagement photos! Though no every pattern works well in photos, so it is important to do it tastefully. I love that Alyssa and Christian stuck with shade of blues throughout their outfits, but incorporated patterns to keep it interesting. The patterns add to the final photos instead of distracting from them!
If you have questions about how your outfits will turn out in photos, don’t hesitate to ask your photographer! I include styling services in my photo packages, and am always happy to give advice on what to wear to achieve the look you want!

Engagement Shoot Outfits For the Casual Couple
If you and your special someone are the epitmony of a cool, casual, easy going couple, consider turning something you do every day today into your engagement shoot! For Sarah and Ben, this was walking their cute Frenchie, Royce.
You could be preparing a meal together, hanging in your favorite vacation spot, or even chilling on your couch. For a photoshoot that is true to you, all of these locations make a great photo op! And even if you are shooting in a studio or outdoors, choosing an outfit that you feel comfortable in will really show in the photos. Choose your favorite flats over some uncomfy heels, wear a denim jacket instead of a blazer. Though a dog might be the best accessory, you can’t go wrong at least wearing your favorite outfit.

Engagement Shoot Outfits For the Refined Couple
Not quite as fancy as what Maddie and Dima wore to their Utah State Capitol shoot, Jace and Rebecca struck the balance between formal and casual with their engagement shoot outfits. And when paired with their downtown urban location, the outcome is a refined but still easy-going look! These photos look like date night out on the town, and fit perfectly with how Jace and Rebecca love to spent their time.
