5 Ways to Preserve Your Wedding Photos
Thank You Cards
Thank you cards are an essential part of your wedding to-do list. And even though this happens after your sparkler exit, after the honeymoon, and after you’ve already unwrapped your five new crock pots, you cannot forget this step! Trust me, it’s going to feel tempting to put off sending these, but sit down with your new spouse and take care of it right away.
After all the hustle and bustle of the ceremony, something easy will be greatly appreciated, which is why I recommend printing one of your wedding photos to send with a personal note! Not only will including one of your wedding photos be a great personal touch, it will also serve as a nice gift for sentimental family members. Grandma is going to love hanging a photo of you like these on her refrigerator.
A friend of mine used a company like Artifact Uprising to turn her photo into the actual card, instead of just slipping in a print with separate stationery. I have even seen couples take this a step further and take a wedding photo specifically for their future thank you cards. Maybe holding a cute banner that says “thank you” or blowing a kiss to your guests!
A Personalized Calendar
As you gear up for your first year together, what better way to commemorate than to create a calendar with both of you in the spotlight? Calendars are easy to personalize and a great way to keep all your important dates in one place. Adding your wedding photos is the perfect way to take homemade calendars to the next level. Nothing says “grown up and put together” like a curated collection of professional photography.
This addition to your new place is sure to make you feel right at home. With a mix of dating and wedding photos, you’re sure to be taken on a trip down memory lane weekly. With so much going on during and after your wedding, don’t forget to mark off extra special holidays this year! A personalized calendar means your new spouse has no excuse for not remembering all the important dates.
A Photo Album
As cliche as it sounds, your wedding day will go by in a flash. Getting ready, attending to guests, initiating the ceremony and so many more things will be commanding your attention. It’s just not possible to remember all of the moments big and small that are worth remembering. An excellent home for your wedding photos is a classic photo album.
I know you’re probably thinking of Great Aunt Karen’s cheap, aging photo album, but they have come a long way since then. You’ll be surprised at the amounts of customization and design that is available to you. Consult a company such as Mixbook, download your favorite photos, format as desired with funny and touching moments from the day, then hit publish. Not only will you be grateful for an accessible way to view your wedding photos, but your kids and grandkids are sure to enjoy them as well.
Large Format Artwork
As you move into your first place together as a married couple, it’s common to start off small in the decor department. I’ve had many friends complain of a lack of quick and easy ways to decorate both rentals and first homes. It’s especially tricky to decorate in a meaningful way that doesn’t exude “budget friendly.” A quick way to upgrade your home while maintaining sophistication is a large canvas print of your favorite wedding photo.
Not only are large format prints easy to come by, but you’ll already have the content. It’s as easy as sourcing a vendor, uploading the image, and ordering. Some popular printers are Costco, FedEx, and any local print shops that may be in your area.
Now you will have a great reminder of your happy day, and these prints will be easy to pair with future decor as well. Hang above a mantel or even your bed for maximum impact.
Christmas Ornaments
First holidays are going to be a big deal the first year of marriage. And if you celebrate Christmas, first Christmas ornaments are a must. Instead of a generic commemorative ornament from Hallmark, why not opt for something more personal?
Have you seen the popular tradition of turning photos into ornaments? If not, now is the time to try it out. An upgrade from the foam backed, popsicle stick ornaments we all made in kindergarten, these ornaments use traditional clear bulbs, and a favorite photo of your choosing suspended in glitter or fake snow.
Adding your wedding photos to your first Christmas is a great way to remember the milestone for many years to come.
