Michajah & McCabe's Colorful Backyard Wedding
As seen in Utah Bride and Groom print magazine, 2024
Michajah and McCabe are one of the most unique couples I have ever had the privilege of working with! They had an incredible vision for their wedding with so many personal touches.
Michajah and McCabe met in St George while they were studying design. They were both dating other people at the time, but became fast friends, and for the next two years, Michajah, her best friend & roommate Nayvi, and McCabe were inseparable. After graduation they all went their separate ways, and Michajah started teaching at Utah Tech University. Michajah and McCabe found themselves both newly single, and Michajah couldn't shake the feeling that there might be something more between them, but didn't want to ruin the friendship. As it turned out, McCabe had feelings for her for a while and knew that he wanted to marry her one day!!
A few months later, they started dating officially, and were engaged the following May on a rainy day on the way to their favorite place, Bear Lake.
Michajah is the director of a Makerspace at Utah Tech University, and with access to the laser cutters, large format printers, woodshop, and metalshop, and with her and McCabe's backgrounds in design, they created an incredibly unique wedding that fit them perfectly. "Classic & Cool" "Rock & Royal" "Hard & Soft" were the main keywords in their design.
All the decor was either made, thrifted, or gifted. They were drawn to cherubs, bows, and anything eclectic with ornate details. They thrifted frames and ribbons for a family tree with their relatives' wedding pictures. McCabe drew tattoos and had them printed for guests to put on during the reception.
Food and music were a big part of their wedding. Michajah saw a picture of Grace Kelly on her wedding day with an enormous wedding cake when she was little and knew she wanted a cake like hers. She was passed around from baker to baker until she found Maile Cake Design who executed it perfectly. They had it placed under the arch as the main focal point of their dinner and reception.
McCabe has a band named NVM, and they played during the reception. This was the first time many of the family had been able to see him perform live. It concluded the evening with such a fun flair.
I hope you loved their story as much as I did!! They truly hand curated the most perfect wedding that fit them and their personalities.
